This meaningful event, held on December 7, 2024, at Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) beach volleyball courts, brought together athletes, supporters, and sponsors to celebrate the life and legacy of Capri Grotowski.
Honoring Capri Grotowski’s Legacy
Capri’s Legacy was created to honor the memory of Capri Grotowski, FAU women’s volleyball coach and an inspiring leader. Over eight years, Capri built the FAU Beach Volleyball Team into one of the nation’s top programs, all while demonstrating incredible courage in her battle against cancer.
From 2014 to 2022, Capri led the Sandy Owls to historic milestones, including their first NCAA Championships appearance in 2022, where they finished ranked 8th in the nation. Tragically, shortly after this achievement, Capri passed away surrounded by family. Her legacy of determination, strength, and resilience continues to inspire the Boca Raton community.
In addition to being a phenomenal coach, Capri was a staunch advocate for breast cancer awareness. She worked closely with Pinkball, a Boca Raton-based organization that provides mammograms and ultrasounds for uninsured and underinsured women in South Florida. Capri’s Legacy continues this advocacy, supporting Pinkball while also raising funds for the FAU Beach Volleyball program and essential breast cancer care.
A Day of Community and Competition
The 3rd Annual Beach Bash Volleyball Tournament was more than just a showcase of athletic talent; it was a celebration of community, resilience, and purpose. Held at FAU’s world-class beach volleyball courts, the event featured thrilling matches that highlighted the exceptional skill of FAU athletes.
The tournament also served as a platform to honor Capri’s memory while fostering camaraderie and raising vital funds for causes close to her heart.
